Fiji, and Sydney on December 27, instead of the 24th, as previously advised, THE ROTOKINO. The Union Company's steamer Rotokino, Capt. R. M. Farmer, arrived from Fiji yesterday afternoon with a full cargo of raw sugar, etc. The steamer has made a very good round trip, being only 19 days from Auckland. On the run down to Fiji the steamer experienced fine weather, and aftei loading raw sugar through the group finally left Suva at 11.20 a.m. on the 22nd Inst. Kandavu was cleared at 6.30 p.m. on the same date, and the Poor Knights made at 5.30 a.m. yesterday, the harbour being made at 1.55 p.m. After inspection by the health officer the steamer berthed at the Queen-street Wharf, and proceeds up to Chelsea this morning to dis- ■ charge. The Russian ship Occident, bound from Hamburg to China with cool and Stores for the Russian warships on the station, took < fire at sea, and was beached at Fiji on the 17th inst. The captain reports having left Dunedin on November 15, and had a fine weather passage to the Kaipara Heads, which were reached on the 22nd inst. Picked up the tugboat Sterling outside, towed over the bar and up the river, and berthed at the Pahi Wharf at 3 p.m. on .he 23rd. The vessel will load timber at Mr. Chadwick's sawmill for Sydney. •■ , THE ABBEY HOLME. The Abbey Holme reported as leaving London for Auckland is a steamer of 1996 tons register, from New York for New Zealand ports, and comes to the agency of Messrs. B. Porter and Co. THE MATATOA. The Shaw. Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Matatua is due from London and Hobart to-morrow. THE TOMOANA. The Tyser liner Tomoana, from London. Melbourne, and Sydney, .is due at this port tomorrow. THE WANAKA. The Union Company's steamer Wanaka will complete the disoharge of her cargo of raw sugar from Fiji this morning, and will come down harbour and be floated into Calliope Dock for cleaning and painting. The steamer loaves for Newcastle direct to-morrow. • A NEW FRENCH NAVAL STATION. According to La France Australe there is some probability of Noumea being made a. French naval station. The same paper states that the recently launched first-class cruiser Jurien da la Graviere, of 11.000 tons, flvintr a vice-admiral's flag, and with a crew of 700 men. will arrive in April next, at Noumea, where she will be permanently stationed. The cruiser is some 40ft longer than tho Protet, which recently visited Auckland. Besides the Jurien de la Graviere. the gunbont Zelee. which has recently left France, and two sea-going torpedo boats, are about to be added to the French naval Strength in this part of the Pacific.
