An inquest was held at Whananaki, near Whangarei, on the 21st inst., before Mr. J. C. Johnson, acting-coroner, oil the body of a half-caste, named William Montague, who met his death by sustaining a fracture of the skull. The evidence showed that deceased was taking some logs down a creek on a catamaran, when it capsized, and one of the logs struck deceased on the head whilst he was in the water. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
