NEW MASONIC LODGE AT OPUNAKE.

[BY telegram.— ASSOCIATION.] Oi'UNAKE, Saturday. A new Masonic Lodge, known as Mahara, was opened here last night, under the Scotch Constitution by Mr. McCullough, Provincial Grand Master, assisted by tie officers and members of the Provincial Grand Lodge. A large numbers if Mascns were present, some travelling 40 miles to be present. Differences of opinion have existed as to whether the Grand Lodge of Scotland reserved the right to erect new lodges, but a decision received by the late mail makes it clear that Provincial or District Grand Masters abroad may erect new lodges by dispensation. In recognising the Grand Lodge of New Zealand that right was not relinquished.
