SOCIAL AT PAEROA.

A VALEDiPTOiiY social was accorded on Thursday night at Paeroa to Mi. and Mrs. Bastings, by their numerous Ohinemuri friends, the function taking the form of a euchre party and dance. There war a very large attendance. All present were highly pleased with the arrangements, and the committee, which comprised Mesdames McAndrow, Edwards, Buckby, and Miss Coote, must have felt gratified at the great success achieved. Excellent provision was made for the euchre, and when the round was completed it was announced that the successful prize-winners were Mr. Sullivan on the men's side, and Mrs. Sullivan on the ladies' side, the latter having played off for first place. The prizes were respectively a gold toothpick and a pencil case. The dancing was kept up till early morning, first-olass music having been supplied by Hemus' Band, from Karangahake.
