WANGANUI SHOW.

WANGANUI, Thursday. The Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral show, held to-day, was the most successful in . the history of the association. The entries were only a little below the aggregate of the Palmerston North show, and in excess of Christchurch, the figures being— Christchurch 1067, Palmerston North 1262, Wanganui 1130. There was the best display of horses yet held in the colony, especially in the draughts and hack classes. It was a beautiful day, and there was a record attendance. '1 he championships were awarded as follows : —Horses: Draught entire, W. H. Anderson's Craigelachie. Sheep: Lincoln ram, J. W. Willde, Manutahi; Lincoln ewe, John Wilkie; Down ram, S. R. Lancaster; Down ewes, S. R. Lancaster. Cattle: Shorthorn bull, Moore Hunter's (Oxford) Duke of Verdon ; shorthorn cow, A. A. Fantham's Duchess of Derrimut; Jersey or Alderney bull, John Donald's Hector McDonald ; best cow in milk (Jersey or Alderney), Mrs. Crawley's Sylvia. Visitors were, present from all parts of the colony. They spoke highly of the show as a whole. It is intended to hold a two days' show next year.
