[BY. telegraph.— own correspondent.! Thames, Wednesday. At the Police Court this morning, before Messrs. F. Trembath and J. L. Walton, J.P.'s, Martin Herbert Walker was charged with stealing a horse and saddle valued at £8, of Peno Puira's, of Ohui, in December last. Mr. Clendon appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. Sergeant Clarke detailed the circumstances leading up to the arrest of accused. In his evidence, leno Puira stated he did not give the accused any authority to sell the horse, and on being cross-examined denied that accused had given him 10s and a lot of things in payment for the horse. Evidence in support of the charge was also given by William Woodward, Georg-3 Williams, and Detective McMahon. Mr. Clendon then addressed the Court for the defence. The Bench, without calling for evidence for the defence, hold that there was some sort of an agreement _ between the parties, and consequently dismissod the case. A. young man named James Thomas was arrested here this evening on a charge of forging the name of one John McLaughlin to an order on Frederick Tetley to the value of 15s. He will be brought up at the Police Court to-morrow*
