By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. THE VICTORIAN PARLIAMENT. Melbourne, November 20. Parliament meets from December 17 till Christmas to deal with pressing business. The House formally met to-day, and adjourned till December 4, in order to permit of the re-election of Ministers. INCREASE OF WAGES. Melbourne, November 20. The Government intend to increase the wages of navvies and casuals from 6s to 7s a day. THE NEW HEBRIDES QUESTION. Melbourne, November 20. The Presbyterian General Assembly debated the New Hebrides question to-day. Mr. Balfour, a Legislative Councillor, stated that 'when recently in England he saw Mr. Chamberlain on the subject, and he admitted that dual control was unsatisfactory. Mr. Balfour agreed that dual control was better than the possibility of another nation possessing the islands. >. Mr. Chamberlain replied that there was no idea at present of the French obtaining the group. The subject was then dropped. THE GRAIN ELEVATOR SYSTEM. Melbourne, November 20. Mr. Mathieson, Commissioner of Railways, has returned from a tour through America and England. He is confident that the grain elevator system could be advantageously introduced into Victoria, and will shortly furnish the Government with a full report on the subject. It would cost £100,000 to build elevators capable of holding two million bushels.
