ENTERTAINMENTS AND MEETINGS.

POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY. The Opera House was again crowded last evening, when the third production of Wallace's "Maritana" by the Pollard's Opera .Company met with a cordial reception. Miss May Beatty was seen in the title role, and acquitted herself creditably, and greatly added to her success of the opening night, nearly all her numbers receiving well-de-served recalls, Mr. Charles Carter (Don Caasar) made a marked impression, and sustained his part admirably, and amongst others who contributed to the success of the performance were Miss Agnes Smith (Lazarillo), Mr. E. Pitts (Don Jose), and Mr. O'Connor (King of Spain). The production has met, with such pronounced success that the management have decided on producing it till Thursday evening next. Tonight Miss Rosa Stevens will again assume the leading past. DIX'S GAIETY COMPANY. The City Hall was again crowded in all parts last evening. A special attraction was offered to patrons by the first appearance of the Linwood Sisters and Mr. Frank M. Clark. The appearance of the latter artist was greeted with great applause, and the audience, after his initial song, " Dig Away Dempsey," demanded another song, to which Mr. Clark responded with " The Lad from the Clyde." So well rendered was this item, that the singer had to respond to encore after encore, the audience only ceasing to applaud upon his intimating that, owing to a rough voyage from Sydney, he begged to bo allowed to cease. Mr. Clark was equally successful in the second part of the entertainment, and altogether proved to be one of the best music hall comedians yet seen in Auckland. The Linwood Sisters were also heartily welcomed, their dancing especially pleasing the large audience. Needless to say, they had also a number of recalls. The Wingate Sisters again held the audience spellbound by their wonderfully neat and daring aerial act. Mr- Couney Moreny gave a highly-finished performance on the horizontal bar, and Miss Ivy Scott showed that the impressions formed after her first appearance on Saturday night fell far short of the mark-. The other members of the company, including Messrs. Kearnß and McKisson, the clever danseuse, Miss Id* Roslyn, Mr. Charles Howard, and Messrs, J. Cowan and Leggett, all helped to make the performance exceptionally enjovable. A now first part, " Our American Cousins," is announced for Saturday night when the world-famed Faust Sisters will make their debut to City Hall patrons. FULLERS' WAXWORKS. A large and appreciative audience was present last evening at the Agricultural Hall. Mr. Charles Faning and Miss Georgia Devoe once again delighted the patrons of this popular amusement. The performance of these two artistes is well worth witnessing, and as public entertainers of the variety hall type have seldom been equalled in Auckland. Miss Amy Blackie and Mr. Wal. Cottier considerably added to their laurels, both artistes obtaining a most hearty reception. Miss Myra James, in her new coon Bongs. Mr. Denis Carney, Mr. Ted Herberte, ana the wonderful boy soprano, Master Freddy, all assisted in making the performance one of the best yet given by Mr. Fuller's Bijou Concert Company. Mr. Chas. Faning's farces, "The Last Song You'll Sing," and " Betsy's Beaux," were heartily enjoyed.
