NEW ZEALAND AND THE COMMONWEALTH.

THE ROYAL COMMISSION ON FEDERATION, [BY TELKGRAI'H. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. I am informed that the Hon. J. G. Ward will be chairman of the Royal Commission on Federation, and that he will have the whole control of its conduct. Considerable interest is felt in the appointments to this Commission. There will probably be two members of it selected from each House of the Legislature, and two from the commercial men of the colony. THE REPRESENTATION* OF NEW ZEALAND. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. The Maori musicians and warriors, who are to appear before the assembled people of the Commonwealth, will start from here on New Year's Day. It is understood that the Premier (who will be regarded as the guest of the Commonwealth), the Hon. J. G. Ward, the Hon. Hall-Jones, and the Hon. J. Carroll will travel by the Tutanekai. I also learn that some 20 members of both Houses 'if the Legislature desire to attend the inauguration ceremony. It is not decided how they are to travel. Room will probably be found for them in the Tutanekai, and the Maoris will probably go to Sydney by one of the ordinary steamers. _ The Premier has received a cable from Sir Wm. Lyne confirming the press cable that the New South Wales Government will find horses for the New Zealand contingent at the Commonwealth celebrations..
