DUEL TO HIE DEATH FOR THE LOVE OF W OMAN.
BARBER ARMED WITH RAZOR, TAILOR WITH PAIR OF SHEARS. 'Alfred Testob, a barber, and Pasquale Patre, a tailor, both of Jamaica, L.1., fought a duel to the death in New York lately, because of their love for a pretty girl. They used the weapons of their respective (.redes a razor and a pair of shears. Testor, who began the fight, was stabbed through the heart with the shears after inflicting several wounds upon his opponent with the razor. Angelina Bracci, a dancer, who lives with her parents in the suburbs, was the cause of I the duel. Tester and Patre have both of late been paying her attentions. Testor, it is said, had proposed and been rejected, which he took as a sure sign that Patre had won the heart of the girl. The friends of both men knew of their rivalry and frequently twitted them about it. Their shops adjoined. Testor went into the tailor shop to tryon a new suit of clothes he had ordered. Patre helped him. "They look fine," said the tailor. "Angelina will be very much pleased." " If you do not stay away from her house," replied Testor, angrily, " I'll fix you for keeps." . More words followed and Testor ran to his barber shop and returned with an open razor in his hand. A tailor named Vignor tried to stop him at the door, but Testor forced his way in, exclaiming to Patre: I'm going to kill you." Then I will have to kill you," Patre is isaid to have replied, as he picked up a pair of shears with a twelve-inch blade.
The tailor used his weapon as a club, trying to-beat off his assailant, who slashed at him right and left. The razor gashed his face, laid open the shoulder of his coat, and finally gashed him in the right wrist. The blocd was flowing freely when in his desperation Patre raised the shears and with a £owerful lunge thrust them deep into the u-ber's breast. The latter gasped once and fell dead.
Patre tried to run away, but a crowd that had gathered prevented this and turned him over to the police. He fainted in the sta-tion-house from loss of blood. He was locked up after his wounds had been dressed. Coroner Leonard Rouoff, jr., was notified %nd ordered an autopsy on the dead man. it was performed by Dr. Flynn, who found that the tailor's shears had cut the heart in two. ■ ... -■-
