its Lordship Bisnor Lkxihan visited tho Convent Schools, Parnell, yesterday afternoon. 'There was a good attendance of children, and a number of parents and friends were also present. A song of welcome was sung by tho. children. An address was presented by the children to tho Bishop, accompanied by a suitable offering, as well as by two beautiful bouquets, adorned with white satin ribbon. The address was presented by Hiss Mary O'Sullivan. Tho following musical programmo was then gone through with great acceptance:—Chorus, "Sunny and Gay Now," by the'children; song, "The Orphan Boy," Master Ambrose Oonsidino; duet, "Gipsy Jane,',' Misses M. O'Sullivan and Atkins; dance, "The Butterfly," Misses McCabe; duet, " Gathering Flowers," Misses JlcCaiferty and Eva Hogan; choruses," Queen Anne Song" and " Home Again," tho children. The National Anthem concluded tho proceedings. The Bishop, in replying to the address presonted by the children, spoke of lis early days as a priest in Parnell as days of joy and happiness in working "for them, and how glad he would be to be again amongst them. This being impossible, he must obtain glimpses of pleasure by visiting them from timo to time Ho spoko of the excellent music provided, judging from this work of the exoollenco of tho teaching. Ho paida tribute to the good work of the- Sisters of Mercy, who were eyer constant in their labours, On behalf of tho children the Bishop congratulated Monsignor O'Reilly on the dignity granted him by Rome. Montignor O'Reilly, in replying, spoke of his early associations with Parnell, and how, as a young man, 40 years ago, ho was engaged in {caching in the Catholic school there. Tho priests accompanying tho Bishop on his visit, were Monsignor O'Reilly, Fathers Patterson, Purton, Corcoran, sad O'Carroll. His Lordship Bishop Lenihan paid his first visit since his return from Rome to tho Takapuna Orphanago on Monday evening. On account of the numerous demands on his time his visit was short, and of a private character.. Ho was accompanied by Monfignor O'Reilly, Father Kchoo (Parnell) and Father Gillan (St. Benedict's). Monsignor O'Reilly also spoke a few words to the children. Miss Kathleen "Withers played Thalberg's "Home, Sweet Home," in a finishel 'ylo,- it being tho only instrumental item, the children's singing being unaccompanied, rather Kehoe played " Brian Boru's March" for the children's drill.
