[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COIUtESrOXDEXTS.] . COROMANDEL. Miss LEATHAII. a missionary from India, has delivered several very interesting and instructive addresses in Christ Church, Coromandel. The church has on several occasions been crowded. A successful entertainment was hold on Monday ovening in connection with tho Covomandel Band of Hope. Mr. Oxbrow, of Auckland, gave an interesting address, as did Mr. Joune. A long and varied programmo was carried through. Tho Parliamentary Union held its first sitting of the second session on Monday night. There was a good attendance of members and tho general public. On tho motion of Mr. Walker (Premier) and Mr. Crnickshank (Leader of the Opposition). Mr. S. Inder was unanimously elected Speaker, and Mr. Max D. King Chairman of Committees. The Governor's speech, which was brief but patriotic, was received with enthusiasm. Mr. T. Middleton moved tho addross-in-roply, which was carried. Later on Mr, Walker (Premier) gave up tho seals of office, and a Ministry was appointed by ballot, consisting of Messrs. T. W. Rhodes (Premier). Applegate, Oruickslumk, and Walker. A strong Opposition, with Mr. Eogerson as leader, has boon formed. A stirring and instructive session is anticipated. OHINEMURI. THE usual meeting of tho Ohinemuri Horticultural and Agricultural Society was held on Monday night, Mr. James Mackay presiding. The report stated that two shows had been held during the year, and though a considerable outlay had been involved in cmnection with the initial shows, the society had carried on its operations successfully, and a small credit balance was reported by tho treasurer. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and votes of thanks accorded to tho outgoing committee. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:— Mr. Jackson Palmer, M.H.I?, j president, Mr. James Mackav: vice-presidents. Messrs. H. P. Barry, A. OaSsrols, and W. Moore; treasurer, Mr. Burgess: committee. Messrs. S. Craig. D. Craig. D. Howie, F. Cock, A. Forbes. Pratt, H. Poland. Brunskill, A. Hubbard. J. Kennedy, Bastings, and Rev. W. H. Wilson. The offico of secretary was held over for the present, Mr. Edwin Edwards declining nomination. THE ordinary monthly meeting of the Waikato Farmers' Club was held on Monday evening. Messrs. C. E. Lnwford, C. C. Bnckland, E. N. Router, and T. Condor, were elected new members. A letter was read from tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, in reply to a communication from the club, as to the auctioneering charges the company proposed to make. The letter was described by the chairman (Mr. E. Allen) as weak in argument, and most unsatisfactory. A resolution. passed hr tho New Zealand Farmers' Union, favouring tho steps being taken to obtain a reduction in anctiDiißoi's' charges, was al°o road. After somo discussion, it, was resolved that the recommendation to the executive that a public meeting bo called to ventilate tho subject, and that a practical scliemo bo devised to bring about the desired result, bo adopted, the local auctioneering firm to be written to in the interim, asking what concessions thoy were prepared to make. Bos'", stock inspector, in which he stated that, considerable annoyance and loss having been caused to buvcrs by tho sale to them of diseased animals, ho intended to put into operation the penal clause of the Stock Act. in order to prevent diseased stock being passed from band to band. Ho requested tho club's co-operation to enable him the more efficiently to carry out his resolve. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Ross. It was decided to ho represented at tho Agricultural Conference, to be he'd on Juno 30: in the event of Mr. Harries. M.H.R., being nnablo to attend, Mr. E. B. Cox to act. Mr. Herries was in attendance, and referred to the Novions Weeds Act. saving Mr. Lang and himself would be only too glad to receive suggestions on that, and other Bills, with the object of advancing the interests r." the farmers. Rnnciman announced that the Auckland Freezing Company bad instructed him that tlicv intended donating two prices of ten guineas each f"r best ten fat. lambs and ten fat, sheep, to be competed for at the next Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Show. The secretary read an article from tho NEW ZEALAND HERALD, under date May 14, being a report on the consignment of sheep and lambs exhibited at the last agricultural show and forwarded to London by the Auckland Freezing Company.
