' The Women's National Council this afterI noon discussed the question of the removal of I women's disabilities, and carried a resolu- • tion that the marriage laws should be ren- ! dered remedial, not merely palliative of mari ried women's disabilities. To this end por- ! tions of the bnvrelnting to coverture, which ; reduce women's condition to merest cyphers ! personally and civilly, should be repealed. ' The Council carried a resolution that it is essential that women, with men. should serve on juries in cases of infanticide or offences against the person. At the evening sitting a paper on constitutional reform, by Mrs. Daldy, was read. The Council adopted resolutions declaring that the system of party government was unsuited to the circumstances of the colony, and in favour of an elective executive.
