Calcutta, May 5. The Kaiser cabled to Lord Curzon stating that the German contributions to the Indian famine fund were prompted by sympathy and love for India, He added : " Blood is thicker than water." Lord Curzon replied that a thrill of gratitude was felt throughout India. Germany's action was an illustration of the binding force of kinship with Britain,

' £369 1 10 The collection in aid of tho Indian famine fund, taken up at tho Tabernacle last night, amounted to £51 15s &d. [Ny telegraph.—press association.] Dunedis, Sunday. Street collections in Dunedin and suburbs yesterday in aid of tho Indian famine relief fund resulted in £129 being collected, with the Port Chalmers return to come. Inelusive of yesterday's effort tho local fund now amounts to £2520, of which £2075 has been received direct by tho general treasurer, and £445 subscribed through the Daily Times.
