At tho Newmarket meeting to-day, tho following was the result of the principal event : — THE ONE THOUSAND GUINEAS of lOOsovs each; the owner of tho second liorso to receive 200sovs and the owner of tho third to save his stake. For three-year-old fillies, 9st each. Rowley mile. Mr. L. Brassey'a b f Winifreda, by St. Simon -Melody 1 Lord Ellcsmere's ch f Inquisitive, by Hampton—None tho Wiser 2 Sir R. Waldio Griffith's b f Vain Duchess, by Isinglass—Sweet Duchess 3 The winner Winifreda, was purchased at auction in Juno last by Mr. L. Brassey, for 3000 guineas. At tho Goodwood Meeting, held in the succeeding month, she gavo her new owner an early return by landing the Richmond Stakes of 782sovs. That was tho only occasion on which Winifreda was seen out at two years old. • The following is a list of the One Thousand Guineas' winners since 1875:—

Oxenham leaving Sydney, in order to take up his residence permanently in England, a large fathering of tho sporting fraternity presented him with a purso of sovereigns and a handsome address, expressing rogret at his departure, and culoRising his manly, honourable, sporting career.
