[IIY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Palmeuston North, Sunday. About half-past two this morning a fire broke out in the Commercial Hotel, situated in the Square. Before the alarm was given the flames had obtained a firm hold, and when the brigade arrived the building was doomed. All the inmates escaped in their night dresses, the waitress, Miss McLeary, being slightly scorched about the arms and bod)'. Practically nothing was saved but £40, left in the safe" by Mr. Roper, the landlord, which was found intact. The adjoining buildings occupied by Ml. Melrose, commission agent, Messrs. Pcarce and Ravcnhill, land agents, and the old Standard office, were completely gutted, and Mr. Billons', photographer, suffered considerable damage from water. The insurances cannot yet lie accurately ascertained. The brigade deserve great credit for stopping the fire so soon.
