POLICE COURT NEWS. Messrs. P. A. Philips and W. C. Walker, J.P.'s, presided at the Police Court yesterday. Drunkenness: A first-offender was convicted and discharged. William Bartloy was fined 10s, or 48 hours in default, and Selinn Nicklin, alias' Potts, 40s, oi 6cven days' imprisonment. Mary Whittingham recoived ?,0 days' imprisonment, and Annio Dunn three months' hard labour for ? similar offence. Breaches of By-laws: William Georgo Parker pleaded not guilty to leaving a- cab unat tended in Queen-street. Mr. O'Moaghdi appeared for defendant. A fine of Is, without costs, was inflicted after heaving oviden:o. For driving round a corner at other than a walking pace David McLnughlin was fined Ss and costs, 7s. John Findlny and Robert Manning nvero each fined ss, and costs 7s, for riding bicycles on the public footpath on the Great North Road, Northeote. Georgo Stains was fined Is and costs 6s for setting fire to rubbish at Nowton in the open air, without giving notico to occupiers of adjoining land. Assault: Mr?. Wheeler was convicted on a charge of having assaulted Emily Davies, and fined 20s and costs £1 19a. Mr. Cotter appeared for (ho complainant, and Mr. Reod for the defendant.
