SUPREME COURT.—Judge's Chambers. TBefore His Honor, Mr. Justice Conolly.] At a chamber sitting held yesterday, His Honor granted probate of tho wills of Boatrice M. Jenkins, Jeremiah Ford, and John Middlamas. On the petition of Mr. Thome, leave was granted to soli real estate in re Grace Florence Hollinshed, deceased. A guardian ad litem of Anne MeArthur (a lunatic) was appointed 011 the application of Mr. Buddie. In re the Trustee Act and a marriage contract between James C. Cairns and Janet D. Henderson: Mr. J. A. Bealc's petition for appointment of now trustees was granted. Ro Hoarlinu v. Hearling and another (divorce): Mr. Haraia, moved for leave to issue writ of fieri facias against the corespondent. Ail order was made a? prayed. MAGISTRATE'S COURT.-FRIDAT. MINING CASES. (Before Mr. H. W. Brabant, S.M.I Ngunguru Coal Company, Limited (in liquidation) v. Ernest G. R Ford (agent): In tlrs caso tho plaintiffs claimed the sum of £13, being the amount of directors' fees for a certain period, (hiring which period it was alleged that the company was not making any profit, and' the directors were not entitled to receive fees when the shareholders were not receiving- dividends. Mr. F. Wilson Smith appeared for the plaintiffs, and M'.'. McGregor for the defendant. Evidence as to the position of the company was given by Mr. W. R. Holmes. For the defence, it wis urged that it had not ten proved that the company was in liquidation; that there was no proof that Mr. W. R. Holmes was liquidator of the company, and that tho Court had no jurisdiction in the matter. His Worship admitted the first two points, and entered a non-suit, with costs. Similar cases against Messrs. E. W. Alison and 11. Tankart were heard. In the former the question of the jurisdiction of the Court was raised, and His Worship intimated that he would take time to consider the question. Iho other case was also adjourned sine die.

POLICE COURT NEWS.

Mr. T. Hutchison, S.M., presided at the Police Court yesterday. The police were represented by Sub-Inspector Wilson. ASSAULT, Alice Sarah Lamb, who was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, was fined 20s, or in default seven days' imprisonment, for assaulting Roso O'Brien by kicking her on the ley. James Nathan Troy, alias James Thompson, was charged with assaulting Mary Whittingham in Albert-street by striking her on tlio face with his clenched fist, and was sentenced to 0110 month's hard labour. BREACHES OF LICENSING ACT. For failing to keep a light burning at. night outside their licensed premises, H. G. Little, Stephen Kiely, Bridget Evans, and Michael Foley were each fined 5s and costs ALLEGED THEFT. Patrick "V. Davis was charged with the theft of a £1 note, the property of a Chinaman named Thomas Wall. Mr. J. R. Reed appeared for the defence, and pleaded not guilty. Mr. Tlios. Quoi acted as interprete;'. Evidence was given by the informant and Charles Morrison in support of the charge Accused gave evidence, and said that ho was employed as a waiter at Wall's oyster saloon, Grey-street, and on the Bth inst. he went out in the afternoon and took a £1 note out of tho till, leaving 2s. He said he took tho money to keep it safe, as his omployer was away. Witness did not return in the evening, as he was under the influence of liquor. He was arrested next morning, and charged with stealing tho money. Witness said he had no intention of keeping it. His Worship said ho had a doubt as to the intention of the accused to steal the money, and could not convict him on the evidence, and accused was discharged.
