ATHLETIC NOTES.

NORTHERN WAIROA CRICKET ASSO-

CIATION. The report of the above association for the season 1898-99 gave evidence of a busy season. A team from Waipu and surrounding districts visited the Wairoa during the Christmas holidays, and played the various clubs, winning every game they played. The association sent a representative team to Auckland at Easter time, and the success achieved was very satisfactory, as may be seen by the results given below. Regarding the cricket fixtures, the season was a successful one, and made more interesting locally by the trip to Auckland at Easter. The finish of the second round was interfered with by practice games for the selection of a team; and so the newly} formed Ivaihui Club played off : th Mangawhare (theso two having then a slight advantage), and the season ended, leaving Kaihu the winners.
