GREY LYNN BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Grey Lynn Borough Council was held last night at the Council Chambers. Mr. J. W. Shackelford (Mayor) and Messrs. E. T. Warnock, Brinsden, Sexton, S. C. Brown, «T. Farrell, W. Priestley, and Donald were present. Report: The foreman of works reported that Wolsclcy Road and Surrey Crescent had been repaired with metal from reserve heaps. Great North Road had been repaired beI tween Archhill Hotel and Elgin-street, j Twenty cesspits had been laid and connected with the main drains outside and inside of i Clark's factory. This drainage was now complete, with the exception of cementing round the cesspits. Thirty water connecI tions had been made, and 900 ft of piping ! had been lifted. The report was adopted. ! Mackelvie-street-: Mr. C. Williamson wrote i on behalf of the owners of section 29, Grey ! Lynn, asking that the Mackelvie-strcet sewer Ibe continued as far as the bridge. He stated I that tenants obtained for the new buildings in course of erection on the block had complained of the noxious smell from the sewer, and asked the Council to abate the nuisance. On the motion of Mr. Brown, the letter was referred to the Streets Committee to report. Donation: Mr. James Batty wrote, Jonitin» photograph? of a portion of the proposed nark for the adornment of the Council Chambers. It was resolved to thank the donor for his gift. „ . Accounts: Accounts amounting to ±»Jzl ±s 6d were passed for payment. Oakley Creek Bridge Mr. Brown asked if Mr. Hutchison, S.M., had given a decision ro " Oakley Creek Bridge. The Mayor explained that the leply would coino formally through the Government. Tarring and Sanding: It was agreed that Hie Streets Committee visit and report on streets to be tarred and sanded during tliu summer months. ~ , Richmond Road: The Mayor moved, "That the .City Council.be asked in carrying out their permanent work in Richmond Road to take into consideration the advisability of cutting down Richmond Road from the entrance .to Ponsonby Road, the Grey Lynn Council'to pay thou proportion of the cost." • The motion was earned,,, Great North Road: It was resolved to take leal proceedings, against the Archlul. Road Beard to recover their proportion of the cost of maintenance of the Great North Road. , Pipes: It was agreed to call for tenders at once for sin water-pipes for Richmond and Cruminer Roads.
