[from our own correspondents.] HAMILTON. THE examination of the pupils of Hamilton "West school was completed on Thursday last by Inspector Grierson. Out of 130 pnpils presented, only 14 failed. At a meeting of the Hamilton Burgesses Association, held on Friday night, it was determined to support Mr. W, Dyer's candidature for the mayoralty. PIBONGIA. ON Monday evening a concert, followed by a farce, was given by the members and friends of the WaipaT Amateur Athletic Club. Tho trophies won at the last meeting were presented during an interval by the chairman, Mr. W. N. Grant. A rather lengthy musical programme was gone through during the first part of the evening, and gave general satisfaction. The second part consisted of the farce " Turn Him Out." The characters were well represented by Messrs. Harold Bell, G. Berry, and E. H. Aubin. The female characters were taken by Miss G. Pinch and Mrs. G. Berry. The characters were well sustained throughout, and well-merited applause was accorded at short intervals. OHADI'O ON Friday the members of the local gymnastic club gave a most enjoyable ball. The hall was very nicely decorated. There were about 30 couples present, so that there was plenty of floor space for the dancers. Miss M. Rich (piano) and Mr. Chittenden (violin) supplied excellent music. Mr. H. Cameron acted as M.C. Dancing was kept up with vigour till four in the morning. _ . Our creamery is now in full swing, ana is working to its full capacity— 800 gallons daily. So far the suppliers appear to be satisfied with tht tests. KIHIKIHI. Wednesday last was the monthly pay-day for rabbit skins. There were so many skins brought in that they could not. all be counted and paid for in one day, and the next day was occupied till noon. The number brought in exceeded any formei month by several thousands. „ , , The Town Board election on Saturday resulted in the return of Mr. F. R. Moody;. A considerable number of electors abstained from voting. HAEAPEPE. Our creamery is now in its second month of working, but the increase in the milk supply has -.lot been as large as expected, the daily supply now being only about 240 gallons. Many of the suppliers are not yet milking all the cows they intend. TAUBANGA. The new whare runanga at Maungatapu was opened to-day with considerable ceremony, but the event was shorn of a good deal of eclat through the absence of King Mahuta. ami his followers. The residents of Tauranga received an official invitation to the ceremony, of which numbers availed themselves, the proceedings were most interesting throughout. WAIUKU. There was a good muster of cattle at Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's monthly sale on October 21, all of which, with few exceptions, were sold at satisfactory prices. Young pigs wero in good demand, and sold freely. § Nominations for the Akaaka Drainage District Board closed at noon on October 21, the following gentlemen being duly nominated:— Messrs. R. A. Bent, William Sanday, John Lowe, H. E. R. L. Wily, Halliburton JohnStone, Joseph Walters, Alfred Kidd, and G. H. Selby. A poll for the election of five members will take place on November 6. An extraordinary election of one member for the Waiuku Road Board, caused by the resignation of Mr. G. H. Selby. will take place on the 30th inst. There are three candidates, viz., Messrs. John Barriball, C. Hosking, and It. Hull. __
