A RAILWAY GUARD'S ESCAPE FROM DEATH.
[by telegraph—press association.] Wellington, Monday. Guard Gough had a remarkable escape from death late on Saturday night. While stepping on the train at the station he collided with a bystander, and was swung in an instant under the carriages. A shout of horror arose, but Mr. Donne, traffic manager, seized him by the feet, and, shouting to him not to move, held him by main force till the train had cleared the platform, when Gougli arose breathless, but, to the surprise of all, quite uninjured.
