Hunter held his horse sale at Ohaupo on Thursday and Friday. Ovc* 350 horses were yarded. Only a small number of very heavy draught horses were oner, 1 but good, upstanding, active draughts ai.u harness horses were offered and sold freely at good prices. There were 60 unreserved, over 250 reserved, and 50 unbroken. With few exceptions, all sold under the hammer. There was a- large attendance of buyers. some from the Auckland and Thames districts, but most of the horses suited for farm purposes were bought by local settlers. Recent sales have evidenced that great improvement in the class of horses bred in the W aikato has taken place during the past few vcars. At present prices, horse-breed ought to pay well. Mr. R. Bell, of Te Ritlm, topped the market with a pair of four-year-old mares just broken in. They are active draughts got by Commodore. The quotations are as follows:—Unbroken draughts, from £16 5s to £25 10s; unbroken light harness, from £6 103 to £14; broken heavy draughts, from £20 to £30: light harness and coach horses, from £10 10s to £18; good hacks, from £9 10s to £16 10s; cobs and stock ponies, from £5 to £9.
