AUSTRIAN INTERPRETER.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l notice that last week a gentleman wrote stating that an Austrian interpreter was required for Auckland, and that Mr. Ferri was mentioned to fulfil that position. I was under the impression that Mr. Nicholas Green, who has been in the colonies for the past 23 years, and is master of eight languages, already held tho position of Government interpreter, so that I fail to see the reason why Mr. Ferri's name should be before the public. I am not aware that Mr. Green has any intention of resigning his position.—l am, etc., N.K.C.
