CO. 1317 TONS YIELD £1336. [from our own correspondent.] Thames, Saturday. During the past month this company has put through and treated at its battery 1317 tons of ore for a bullion return valued at £1316. This is scarcely up to expectations, but is accounted for from the fact that during (lie latter part of the month the class of ore won was not of as good it grade as that treated during the earlier part of the month. The bulk of the ore treated was won from the stopes upon the main reef above the Dunedin low level. Preparations arc being made to get everything in readiness for stoping upon the reef above the Charter level. At that point the reef shows a thickness of about Bft, and is composed of payable ore. When that block is ready the output can be considerably increased. Preparations are also being made to start stoping upon the main reef at the intermediate level, which is being opened up between the Dunedin level and battery low level. Operations have been at a standstill at the battery low level during tho past month, Wt tiiey are to be resumed again at once. THAMES SHAREMARKET. [from OUR OWN correspondent/! Thames, Saturday. NEWS FROM THE MINES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN" CORRESPONDENT.J Tiiamks, Saturday, MAY QI'EBW A crushing of ore broken from the stopes upon the Cardigan No. 2 reef, above No. 6 level., and from No. 4 reef in the winze below No. 6 level, in the May Queen section, was completed, and the gold banked to-day. The value of the return has not been made public, but it is understood that the yield of gold from No. 4 reef is an exceedingly good one. MOANATAI.UtT. The development operations upon the Cambria main reef at No. 3 level, are being pushed forward as speedily as possible, and the prospects are of a most encouraging character. The underlie of the reef, however, is so great that it will take some considerable time to open up the ore body and make it ready for systematic stoping operations. Another crushing of about 60 tons of ore from the point referred to will he commenced at the company's battery on Monday next. ETIIF.Ii REEF. Capital headway is being made with the erection of this company's new 10-stamper battery, the buildings for the same being all but completed, and the erection of the machinerv well in hand, so that there is 110 doubt it will be ready for the treatment of ore early in December. At the mine the development works are being expeditiously pushed forward, and at several points payable ore is being met with. New developments have occurred in connection with the hangingwall and footwall reefs at the Anchor level. The. hangingwall reef has divided into two sections, and the right-hand branch has been followed for a distance of about 30ft. It is composed of numerous veins and ribs of quartz, totalling altogether about sft in thickness, the bulk of which has been proved, by bulk test crnshings at the company's experimental plant, to be payable ore. The footwall reef, as driven upon, junctioned a short time back with another body of ore. At first the ore was low grade, and the reef split up, but now an improvement' is setting in, and colours of sold are once more seen in the ore. Good prospects are also being met with at two or three other points, but the efforts made to discover payable ore in what is Known as Stephenson's leader, have so far proved futile. The Union Jack prospecting crosscut is being steadily pushed forward in the upner sections of the company's property, but as yet no ore bodies have been intersected, although it was anticipated such would have been the case ere this.
