PARLIAMENT AND THE WAR
TEN MILLIONS VOTED. EXCITING SCENES. AN IRISH MEMBER EXPELLED. London, October 21. In the House of Commons, Mr. Geo. Wyndham, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for War, said it was only proposed at present to embody the cost of the militia in the war vote. Probably the militia reserves would not be needed. The adoption of the Address-in-Reply ifras carried. In Committee of Supply, Mr. Wyndham moved the granting oi £10,000,000 as a supplementary army estimate. He said he was gratified at the manner in which 40,000 troops had been mobilised, and transferred 6000 miles in four months. London, October 21. During the discussion on the proposed ten million grant, Mr. Labouchere denounced the operations against the Boers as iniquitous. Mr. Michael Davitt characterised the war as a' damnable massacre. Mr. William Redmond, after a vio' lent speech, was expelled from the House. Mr. Balfour moved the closure, and the £10,000,000 was voted by 271 votes to 32.
