AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. Yesterday investment stocks were asked for at late rates, but there was not such a good demand as there was earlier in the week. In mining, Wailii Grand Junctions were placed at 21s 6d, Waihi Extendeds at IOJd, Waihi Souths Bjd, and Imperials 4Jd. Broken Hills were placed at ljd. New Four-in-Hands were exchanged at 3s 4d, while Bunker's Hills showed a slight improvement, consequent upon an encouraging report being received from the mine. BUNKER'S HILL G.M. CO. Yesterday Mr. C. A. Stubbs received a telegram from the manager of the Bunker's Hill mine, to the effect that 181b of picked stone had been secured from the reef in the stopes going north, with gold still showing in the face. AUCKLAND CHAMBER OF MINES. A meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Mines was called' for yesterday, at the Chamber, Shortland-stree't, to receive the report, elect officers, and transact important business in connection with the fume cf tho Chamber. Colonel Burton presided, and 18 members were present, nut a» (lie requisite quorum was not in atiemlar.ee, only an informal discussion took place on the question of the future working of the Chamber. Tlios. Reed and party at £1 5s 6:1, according to specifications drawn up by the mine manager (Mr. J. M. Haslctt), who, whilst in charge of the Waitekauri King mine, will supervise the work as it proceeds. According to recent survey, there remains about 130 ft to drive from the present face of the low level to get under the winze, which when reached and tho reef opened up should prove highly remunerative, as the lowest return from the reef in the winze and slopes was worth over £4 per ton, whilst the 0110 ton parcel treated by G. Fraseil and Sons gave a return of gold valued at £18 12s. NEWS FROM THE MINES. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Coromakdel, Friday. bunkkk's hill. This mine is again producing specimen stone of excellent quality, 181b being secured to-day, whilst there is every prospect of a good haul at the next breaking-down. HAURAIiI SOUTH. Barrier Reefs (Great Barrier, October 19) : No. 2 level is in 208 ft. A hole broken into the quartz shows over 2ft of high-grade ore the face of No. 3 level is in 733 ft. The country here is hard and dry. Work in this face has been stopped, and a crosscut started into the footwall country, about 400 ft west from the flat sheet. Tho west rise is up 13ft. Oyer 4ft of ore shows in the top, much of it being specimen ore. A gang of men are at work making roads about the mill site.
