CAPTURE OF A NATAL TRAIN.
SEVERAL BRITISH OFFICERS TAKEN PRISONERS. THREATENED ATTACK ON LADYSMITH. Capetown. October 20. It is stated that while a train conveying a number of British officers . and men from Ladysmith to Glencoe, on the Natal railway, was proceeding on its journey, it was attacked (and captured by the Boers, and its passengers taken prisoners. Capetown, October 19, General White declares that a Free State commando opposed hiip near Ladysmith, commencing hostili- j ties on the 17th inst. . 1 Boers are manoeuvring to make a simultaneous attack on Ladysmith and Glencoe. General White's aim is to defeat tin Boer commandos separately. Several cavalry skirmishes have taken place at Blaauwbant and Bester's. The Orange Free State troops, are suffering badly in the encounters.
