The owner states that he has only £3000 about her. Unless a more reasonable price is offered she would not start. Small sums offored about the mare at 7 to 1 were declined. Egypt, owing to a reported unsatisfactory gallop, went back to 20 to 1. Sentinel has been backed to win £3000 at 50 to 1. Merry Pilgrim was supported for £1000 a 100 to 3, and Dirk Hammerhand for £1000 at 100 to 4, and Gauleon for the same amount at 100 to Bi. For the Caulfield Cup, which is to bo dooided to-morrow, the Herald tips: Scorn, Mora, Dewey, and Sentinel. On the track to-day Scorn, La Carabine, and Revenue finished together at the ond of six furlongs on the sand, in lm. 18Js. Cranberry only cantered, moving froely. Dewey will bo ridden in the Cup by L. Kuhn, and tho other mounts are as follow: —Mora, Parker; Scorn, Burn; Cocos, Barden; Gauleon, Delaney; Cremona, Harris; Town Clock, Thomas; Egypt, Fisher; Dirk Hammerhand, Driscoll; Strathjoy, Minter; Kobold, Guinane; Sentinel, Ross. Later, Dewey is a firm favourite at 5 to 1. After being supported to win £400 at 8 to 1, Mora shortened a point. Bto 1 was offered against Scorn, and £500 at 100 to 9 was taken about Gauleon, £500 at 100 to 8 La Carabine, 100 to 6 Kobold, £500 at 100 to 5 Town Clock and Egypt, 100 to 34 Ballistite (tho latter was backed to win £1000).
