On Friday an average number of horses were yarded, but bidding was dull; good draughts, with ton trials, sold at £14 to £23 15s; spring cart, trial, up to £11; pair of creamv ponies, £16; a farm waggon sold at £21; spring cart, £12 2s 6d; roadster, £15 ss. On Tuesday bides in usual number increased in price about Jd per lb. At the Kunciman Yards on Wednesday, there was a large muster of stock of all classes, for which bidding was brisk throughout. Dairy cows were from £4 to £6 10s each; grown steers in fresh condition were from £5 103 to £6 12s; three to four-year steers, £4 to £5 ss; two to three-year, £3 to £4 ss; calves and yearlings, from £1 to £2 ss; dry cows, £2 to £3 103 each. Everything sold: At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cows, in average numbers, were dull of sale. Store cattle, yarded numerously, were required, and sold freely throughout. Abraham and Williams. report as to their Johnsonville stock sale as follows on October 10:— cattle, in full supply, sold steadily throughout. Ox beef made 17s 6d the 1001b for good quality handy weights, large oxen at 16s, some small prime bullocks up to 183 Od. Taken right through, bullocks were a good sort. Sheep, in average numbers, proved to be in over supply. Prices receded fully Is per head on all secondary to inferior qualities; medium sheep kept their value. The bulk of, the entries was second rate. A few fat lambs, of nice quality, were easier than anticipated. In pigs a derided drop took place, equal to 5s to 7s 6d per head on all, both porkers and bacon pigs. Lowes and lorns report at their sale on Wednesday:-Sheep came forward in good numbers, fats being well-represented, and all this class selling, the first shorn of the season coming into the market. Hoggets were in big supply, but first-class were too high reserved and failed to sell; store ewes met with ready sale. In beef some nice pens of steers, cows, and heifers were offered, making good values. In stores, steers were well represented, mostly, however, being passed, but a fair proportion were placed afterwards. In dairy stock we offered some nice lines, all selling at sound rates.
