News was brought to town yesterday that the cutter Leo was ashore at Rangitoto, near the wharf, and in a bad position. The cutter Flora went down to Rangitoto during the day. in order to lighten the Leo. by taking the cargo out of her. I files, reports: The Zealandia left Sydney wharf at 5.15 p.m., and cleared the Heads at 5.55 p.m. on the lltli inst.; had the Three Kings abeam at 5.30 a.m., Cape Maria Van Diemen at 7.35 a.m., and rounded the North Cape at 9.3 a.m. on the 15th, arriving at 11.30 p.m. Experienced moderate to fresh southerly winds, with westerly seas and fine weather, to the North Cape; thence fine weather and smooth seas to arrival. The Zealandia leaves for East Coast and Southern ports tomorrow afternoon. THE HINEMOA. The Government steamer Hinemoa, Captain J. fiollans, arrived from Wellington and the East Coast on Saturday evening, berthing at the Railway Wharf. Some splendid workwas done bv the crew at East Cape Island in the way' landing material and stores, no fewer than 64 boatloads and 11 raft loads being landed in two and a-half days, the whole amounting to 185 tons. This is a record, and the crew are to be complimented upon their excellent work. The Hinemoa left Wellington at 1 p.m. on the 4th inst., and called at Portland Island the next day, where stores, etc.. were landed, and the steamer proceeded on to Poverty Bay. where the buoys were cleaned and overhauled. A call was made at Kawakawa the nest day, and Eifet Cape island reached at 11 a.m. on the 7th. Landed cargo, etc.. on that day and the Bth. Owing to a strong north-west breeze and sea prevailing on the 9th no work could be done on that date, bot the wind and sea moderated on the 10th, and the work completed at 3 p.m. on that date, and the steamer went on to Tauranga, which was reached on the 11th, but being Labour Day no work was done. The buoys in the harbour were cleaned and overhauled on the 12th arid 13th, and Cnvier Island was reached on the morning of the 14th. Landed stores, etc., and left for Auckland, arriving at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday.
