PAPAKURA VAL. ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Boad Board was held on August 26. Present: Messrs. G. D. Smith (in the chair), F. M. Allen, W. Haslip, E. Kemp, and E. Morgan (clerk). The Button P °re Se ? D MC ? A letter was received from Mr. H. Harrowell. stating that- the only outlet which he had for draining hi 3 laud was being obstructed with hedge trimmings. It was detJ, , 9 notify Mr. J. It was also arranged to write Mr. Harrowell, asking him to lower the banks of the formation by his gate entrance. The Wairoa Boad Board wrote stating that they had called a conference of Road Boards to meet on the October saleday at Papaknra. It was decided when replying to them to call their attention to the recent decision of Mr. I Hutchison, S.M., in relation to gum license 3 as it seemed evident by that, that a source of | revenue to both Boards was being neglected. Letters font Mr. Wedding, re his road, were received. Mr. W. F. Massey. M.H.B, in reply to the request made, re weighbridge and telephone at the Mannrewa station, wrote stating that he would do bis best in the matter Various other correspondence of minor importance was dealt with. Accounts amounting to about £8 were passed for payment. At the conclusion of the meeting, the" Board inspected the bridge approaches made bv Mr. Hansch, and for which they had promised to pay £3. It was found that they were constructed very badly, and likely to engender the safety of the bridge in the case of a flood It was, therefore, decided to notify Mr. Hanson to have it pat right by September 5, ' failing which the Board would have it done ! at "is expense. It was agreed to hold the j annual inspection of roads on the last Saturday in September, starting from Oliver's sate ! at nine -a.m.—[Own Correspondent.]
