AUSTRALIAN JOCKEY CLUB'S SPRING MEETING.
BANDWICK TRAINING NOTES. By Telegraph.— Association.— Sydney. September 6. The training tracks at Randwick were in excellent order this 1 morning, and a lot of good work was done. Superb, with a light weight up, ran a mile and a-quarter on the tan in 2m. 17s. Severity, probably carrying from 101b to 121b above his Epsom Handicap weight, galloped a mile on the course proper in lm. 48]s. This is the gallop of the season. Severity was assisted in the first half by Carbien, the timo being 5055. Trenchant assisted in the last half of the journey. Severity finished exceptionally straight and full of " go." Ottoman took lm. 49is. to cover a mile. Water Colour had the best of Fitzroy over a similar journey, finished in lm. 48js. Auld Lang Syne, Condiment, Alderman, and The Kiss also negotiated the Epsom Handicap distance of one mile in such a convincing manner that the race is anything but a foregone conclusion. Blue Metal covered a circuit in 2m. 37|s. Bobadil, Cocos, Cravat. Plutns. Dewey, and Flodden were associate;! in a gallop of once round, and finished ill the following order:—Flodden. Dewey, Bobadil, Cravat, Plutus, and Cocos, the last-named being a long way in the rear. The time recorded was 2m. 39]s. BETTING ON THE EPsOM HANDICAP. On the strength of his gallop this morning Severity is now equal favourite with Superb, 6to 1 being the price about each. The other quotations are: 14 to 1 Ace of Diamonds, Dandy and Blue Metal, 16 to 1 Caledonia. The noticeable feature of the speculation today was the backing of Ace of Diamonds, who was supported to win £3000 at 100 to 5. Boreas was supported to win £2000, and Caledonia £1000, each at 100 to 4.'
