It is reported that a mountain of copper, averaging from 10 .to 15 per cent., has been discovered near Wortupa goldfields. TANNERY DESTROYED BY FIRE. Sydney, August 22. Thompson's tannery, at St. Mary's, hai been destroyed by fire. The damago is £8000. FEVER AT SEA. Sydney, August 22. The steamer Moresby, which took a num< ber of excursionists to New Guinea, New Britain, and the Solomon Islands, has returned to Sydney. While the steamer was at German New Guinea fever broke out on board. One passenger named Hawley, from London, died, the second cook succumbed on the voyage to Sydney. Six others were taken to the hospital on arrival. WET WEATHER. Sydney, August 22. A remarkable spell of wet weather has been experienced. It lias been raining on the coast almost continuously since the be< ginning of June. The rainfall in Sydney fiom January 1 is 41in, against a total- of 43in for the whole of last year. Only five days during the present month have been dry. FIRE IN A MINE. MelbotJbne, August 23. The fire in the Madame Berry mine is out), Damage is not at present known. -
