UNDER THE ARMY AND MUTINY ACTS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—On Saturday, April 1, about 80 of 0l volunteers signed a paper placing themSelves under the Army and Mutiny Acts, but U P to the present time I have not heard of their being officially discharged. Now, is this fair to the men? Many of them were put to expense tlioy could ill-afford in buying an outfit for Samoa, and at tlio time of enfoiling it was tile general belief among them tnat_ they were to be paid from the time of signing. They wore, informed a day or wo later, however, that they were to be paid from the time of embarkation. The men ire out of pocket over this afliair, and, I 'Should think, on a future occasion of the June kind, would ho more cautious in comlu forward. But, be this as it may, I fail •° see the advantage of a man remaining jinder the Army and Mutiny Acts if lie is to receive no remuneration. Now that the c are is over, would it not be as well to of"dally discharge tho men?— am, etc., ."V" Suggestion.v.
