The match between the Australian crickeft team and the South of England was con* tinned at the Crystal Palace Grounds to-day.. Rain fell during the early part of the day, and the weather continued lowering, with a shifty, but fairly good light. On the Australians resuming their first innings, Gregory, who joined Hill {the nob out man of the previous day), gave a vigorous display, and made 11 runs in one over.

With the score at 67, Grace replaced Jessop with the ball, and at 74 Brockwell went on in place of Lockwood. . The partnership of Hill and Gregory, however, continued, the two batsmen scoring 60 in less than an hour, but eventually Hill, was disposed of, the third wicket falling for 96. Worrall joined Gregory, and the partnership carried the score to 222, when Worrall was caught by Brockwell. After, the luncheon adjournment, Lockwood, Townsend, and Grace, bowled, but tW batsmen played in free style, being indifferent to all changes.

Gregory was missed in the slips when he had made 83, and a moment later he gave another chance at the wickets. He was heartily cheered on reaching the century. Ho batted altogether three hours and 20 minutes. Noble showed first-rate cricket throughout, displaying a consistent taking style.
