THE STEAMER PERTHSHIRE.
OPINION OF THE OWNERS. ' There is still no tidings of the missing steamer Perthshire, now nearly 15 days out from Sydney to the Bluff. The opinion of experts is that no very great anxiety need bo felt regarding the safety of the steamer and those on board, as slio was an exceedingly 6trong and well found vessel in every respect, and if sho has broken down would merely drift about until picked up. It is possible that if the accident occurred soon after leaving Sydney an endeavour would be made to return to that port. The Waikare is due at Wellington from Sydney to-day, and may probably bring tidings of the missing steamer. Our Wellington correspondent telegraphed last night:— is still no news of the Perthshire, and public anxiety is becoming acute. There is, however, no occasion for alarm. Information from the agents and owners has been received to the following effect:—"We are not at all concerned about her safety, but it may be some time before she will be picked up. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS .ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Although a cable message was sent on Monday to Turnbull, Martin, and Co., as owners of the overdue steamei Perthshire, njkine for instructions, no reply has been received up to the present.
