During the administration of tho Atkinson Government Mr. Withy. ilien the representative of Newton, ably championed the cause indicated. Tho Hon. Mr. Ward (then Ml. Ward, member fn Awarua) fought like a demon against him (Mr. Withy). Who saved the San Francisco service for Auckland at that time? The undivided votes of" 1 ® Auckland members. When Mi. Ward became Postmaster-General, and through bis official knowledge admitted his previous mistake, who again saved the San Francisco service for Auckland? There IS only one answer, viz., the united vote of the Auckland members. At a later period Mr. C. E. Button championed the cause, "ho then saved the San Franoisco service for Auckland? Hansard shows it was tho unitod vote ol the Auckland members. And I ask you who has been the implacable opponent of Auckland "is the port of call" fo» the San Francisco mail service? If you do not know, I will give you tho information, viz., Captain Russell. Will the membo: of the National Association, when lie addresses an Auckland meeting, ask Captain Russell why he did so? I intend to address my electors at Newmarket tho night after Captain Bussoll 8 Auckland meeting, and if the gallant and courteous Leader of the Opposition fails to Give the information indicated I will' place the whole position before tho people of Auckland and the electors of New Zealand.—l am, etc., J.
