THE MYERS CASE.

The hearing of the criminal charges against Myers began in the Lower Court yesterday, and was resumed to-day, young Aldou3 relating money transactions that had taken place between Myers and his mother. 'Witness stated that in the absence of his mother from Wellington, when ho was in charge of monetary transactions, Myers rushed into the shop asking witness to save him, saying that he had forged his mother's name to a bill. Witness went to the bank and told tho manager the signature on the bill was his mother's. He now admitted that the statement he made to the manager was a lie. Tho bill had never been paid by his mother, nor was it presented for payment. This closed the ease for the Crown, and in order to allow Mr. Jellicoe to consult' with his client, the case was put back until the afternoon, and a further charge against Myers of forging the name of M. C. O'Connell, of Mastcrton, to a promissory note for £386 .fas taken. Myers was committed for trial on four charges of forgery. Two others remain to bo heard. With respect to the cheque alleged to bear the forged signature of C. P. Skerrett, solicitoi, Myers made a statement to the effect that he gave a blank cheque to another young man, whoso name had been mentioned during the proceedings, and he went away and brought him back the cheque with Mr. Skerrett's signature..
