. «, Tee monthly meeting of the above was held it Morrinsville on the 21st inst. Present: Messrs. Cbopmell (chairman), Hunt, McCaw, Gavin, Horrir<, King, and Harrison. Advice was received from the Warden's ofiice, Thames, of a remittance of £63 8- 9d, being goldfiolds revenue for month ending December 3. The clerk reported the ovardraft to 1» £72 9s lid at dale. Tlio following renewals of slaughterhouse licenses were granted :-To John Wood, John Howe, W. A. Roberts, J. Gibson, P. A. Sovticy, D. Scully, F. Rose, Alex. Howe, and F. .1. Marshall, The attorney of the Hauruki Dei velopment Syndicate (Mr. C. F. I). Farley), in reply to the Council's request (or payment of contribution promised by the late manager towards repairing the tramway, wrote saying that ho had no knowledge of the liability, and that so far the Council's claim was not necogniscd. The Council decided to take tho necessary steps to enforce the claim. The secretary of the Cailman Syudicalo asked that the Council would put the tram in repair between the Silver King level and top of Butler's Spur. He promised payment of i the syndicate's contribution in a week or two. The Council deoided to do the work. They also decided to keep the man engaged looking alter the tramway for another month, Messrs. Gavin, Hurries, and Farmer to make all arrangements for working the tramway. The Railway Department repudiated any liability (or repairing tho road at Tirau, the local bodies being responsible foi maintenance. It was decided that the next meeting of tho Council be on .Monday, February 13, »'• noon, when the Council will proceed to elect a representative on the Thames Harbour Board. Mr. A. Jy.varbriek wrote, enclosing plan of proposed alteration in course of road between Pukekura and Hora Hora; also mitten consent of interested owners, and draft of required advertisement. The To Aroha Borough and Waitoa Road Hoards refeed permission to Council to take gravel from their piu, as they each considered that they only had enough for their own requirements. Mr. Cribb having consented to allow Pavel to lie taken from his place, the offer fas accepted of sufficient to repair the road near Waihou. The clerk was authorised to arrange with Mr. Baino for a supply of gravel from his pit at 4d per yard, to be used at tho « Aroha end of the road. Messrs. {.Sarin, Herrics, and Farmer were authorised to accept lenders for the work. The foreman was authorial to effect some small repairs on the "aitoa Road, where it crosses the drain ; also to get clay put on about half-a-mile of We road between Waiharakeko and Poplar nudges. The foreman was instructed to prepare specifications for gravelling the Avenue "wad near Morrinsvillc. Foreman Mahood was authorised to order one truck of kauri and one truck of rimu timber for the ropair of bridges. Tho foreman was instructed to jj-PUr the approaches to the two bridges at ™ boundary of the Matamata riding. Messrs. •McCaw and Hunt reported that they had tot Foreman Mahood in reference to putting the road near the Hora Hora boundary in good order. They considered a bridge would ™ required, the cost of which they ostim«ed at from £30 to £35. The foreman to gel the work done.
