AQUATICS.

NORTH SHORE ROWING CLUB. The North Shore Rowing Club held trial pairs on Saturday afternoon on Cheltenham Beach, for trophies presented by the club captain. One heatthat between W. Carle (stroke) and E. Russell (bow), and J. Sullivan (stroke and G. Blandtord (bow]—nad been decided on Thursday evening, Clark winning by a good half-length. Saturday's racing was the means of bringing about some excellent finishes, as in only one case was there at the finish as much as a boat's length between the competing crews. Appended are the results of the various heats rowed on Saturday: No. 1: 0. Cardno and S. McAdahi deflated L. Bakewell and F. Cotes by .about 3it. No. 2: J. Cardno and P. Wood defeated F. Best and A. Cameron by a couple of foit. No. 3: H. Burgess and L. Nicholson defeated A. Mann and H. Johnson by a qtartcr of a length. No. 4 (semi-final): J. Cardno and P. Wood defeated G. Cardno and S. McAdam by a quarter of a length. No. 5: W. Clark and E. Russell defeated H. Burgess and L. Nicholson by half-a-length. No. 6: W. C'ark and E. Russell defeated J. Cardno and P. Wood by a few feet, therby winning the trophies.

PARNELL SAILING CLUB. The first races of the Parnell Sailing Club took place on Saturday afternoon, and some very good contests took place. Great interest was taken in the events, but as there was no beating, owing to the direction of the wind, the competing boats had not a thorough test of their qualities. Mr. Chatfield acted as starter, and Mr. H. Wright as judge and timekeeper. The course was from the yacht Viking, round the Calliope Dock buoy, round Sandspit buoy, and back to the Viking; twice round. The following were the results: Patiki class: There ware seven starters, and the result was: Boomerang, 1; Ida, 2; 7.0p, 3. The Boomerang won by two minutes. 20ft and under: 801 l Bird, 1; Ida, 2j Sea Breeze, 3. The Bell Bird had to allow the Ida four minutes, and the latter takes fust place by two minutes. 25ft and under: Corina, 1; Taugaroa, 2; Hairero, 3.
