FIRE ON THE S.S. TAIER.

A kibe occurred oil board of the Union Steamship Company's steamer Taiori. at Labasa Bay, Fiji, on tile 17th inst. The steamer was at the time engaged in loading raw sugar for Auckland, and at ten minutes past ten p.m. the alarm of fire was given. Captain Shepherd, and his officers were promptly at their posts, end the lire hose was got in readiness. The tire was located in No. 4 hold, in which was stowed a large number of bugs of raw sugar. The hose was played down into the hold, and the lire subdued, the only loss being the destruction of a number of bags of sugar. No damage occurred to the ship, and in less than forty minutes the fire was completely extinguished.
