BEITISH WARSHIP ON THE SCENE. CREW SINGING "THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER." By Telegraphs—Press Association.— Washington, August 20. News from Manila states that tlio position of General Augusts, the Spanish Governor-General at Manila, became untenable on the Bth inst., and he applied for a passage on a German warship. Ho left Manila without any objection on the part of Admiral Dewey. When tho ultimatum was presented all the Consuls, except tho German, advised the surrender of the city. When Admiral Dewey's fleet aligned preparatory to opening firo tho crew of a British warship sang '• The Star Spangled Banner." Shanghai, August 21. America has asked permission to repair a vessel belonging to her Manila fleet at Hongkong.
