ACTION AGAINST THE KAURI TIMBER COMPANY.
A RESULT OF THE RECENT FLOOD. [by telegraph,—own CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Monday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day (before Mr. R. S. Bush, S.M.) a settler named L. L. Dodd sued the KaUri Timber Company for £36 14s 6d, the amount of alleged damage done to his freehold property in the Kauaeratlga Valley, by the driving of logs and timber, and by the backing up of water from the Company's booms during the flood, which occurred on June 23 lost. Mr. Clendon appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Day for the defendant. Captain Swindley and Mr. E.. F. 'lizard sat on the Bench as assessors ! The evidence of plaintiff and two witnesses was taken in support of the action, and the. further hearing of the case was adjourned to 1 Wednesday morning next. j
