ANTI-GAMBLING MOVEMENT.
[by TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. A largely-attended meeting was addressed to-night by a number of clergymen, and by Mr. J. Duthie, M.11.R., Mr. J. Hutcheson, M.H.1!., Sir Robert Stout, and others. A resolution was passed levelled against the gambling spirit of the community, and it was decided to form a branch of the New Zealand Anti-Gambling League. Sir Robert Stout was elected president, and all the clergy were elected vice-presidents. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Government to urge them to deal with the suppression of betting and other forms of gambling.
