THE AUCKLAND ELECTRIC LIGHTING BILL.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. The Auckland Electric Lighting Bill was again before the committee to whom it was referred by the House, to-day. The morning was occupied in bearing 'the evidence of Mr. Chambers, Mr. Fcnn (electrical engineer), and Mr. Lawrv (the member in charge of the Bill). In the afternoon Mr. Cotter (city solicitor) addressed the committee at considerable length, reviewing the whole position as far as the Auckland City Council is concerned. The remainder of the day was taken up with the examination of Mr. Dignan. The committee then adjourned till Wednesday. So far only the preamble of the Bill has been under consideration. The separate clauses have yet to be discussed.
