THE UPOLU. The Union Company's steamer Upolu, bound from Wellington to Auckland, put into Napier yesterday for shelter. She left again in the afternoon, and is expected to arrive tomorrow. NEW YORK-NEW ZEALAND TRADE. Captain Todd, the New Zealand tepreseh' tativc of the T.rEer Line (Limited) notifies tliht the TyEer Company has decided to Resist in the development of the trade between New York and Australasia, and arrangements have been completed for a service by firstclass cargo steamers between New York, Melbourne, Sydney. Auckland, and Southern ports. The first steamer of the new service is fixed to leave New York on September 25. THE MARAHOA. „ The Uhlon Company's steamer Mararoa, Captain Edwin Phillips, arrived from Sydney yesterday morning, with a number of pas- . sengers and a large quantity of general cargo, . including transhipments from London, tailcorner, and Australian ports. The steamer met with very rough weather on the passage, and entering the Gulf on Sunday night the weather came on so very thick and rainy , that the lights could not be picked up, and she anchored Inside of Tiritiri for the night, ' . coming into port shortly after daylight yes- | I terday. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rimutaka left Wellington for this port yesterday morning, and is due tomorrow. THE POHERUA. The Union Company's steamer Poherua left Suva for Funafuti on the 10th inst. She is to return to Fiji, and load sugar through the Group for Auckland, and is expected to leave Suva on the 21st inst. THE ROVAL SEVERE GALES. the Auckland barque Royal 'far. which arrived at Melbourne from the Kaipara on the Ist inst., had a very trying passage. Captain Campbell reports the barque had to contend with continuous heavy gales from the westward all the way across. The vessel sailed from the Kaipara on July 6, and almost from the start the decks were continually flooded with the heavy seas which broke on board. On the 26th, during a terrific squall, the main yard snapped, and a quantity of canvas parted company with the bolt ropes. The passage has been the roughest Captain Campbell has ever experienced. THE ROTOKINO. A large two-masted steamer passed Russell yesterday afternoon, bound south, aiid would probably be tho Rotokino, from Newcastle to this port. She had not arrived up to an early hour this morning. THE WARSHIPS. H.M.s. Torch leaves for the South on the 24th inst. H.M.s. Tauranga leaves Lyttelton for Akarpa on the 22nd inst. H.M.s. Karrakatta was in Queensland waters at last advices.
