Stead, of Christcburch, accompanied by his son, Mr. Wilfred Stead, is on a visit to Auckland, Mr. Trumbull White, of the Chicago Record, was a passenger to Honolulu by the Alameda on Saturday. The Rev. L. I'. Robin, of the Melanesia!) Mission, was a passenger to San Francisco by the Alameda on Saturday. Mr. James Coates, general manager of the National Rank of New Zealand, is at present on a visit to Auckland. The Rev. Hudson Taylor, director of tlio China Inland Mission, is expected to visit the colonies early in the New Year Mr. Waterhouse, well known in Auckland, of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, is on a visit from Wellington. Mr. Justice Stephens, accompanied by his secretary (Mr. Walsh) arrived from Sydney by the Westralia last night, on a holiday visit to New Zealand. Messrs. Fred Wilson and R. Hoi-ton, who nave been on a visit to Great Britain, the Continent, and Australia, returned by the Westralia from Sydney last night. Mr?. Schultze, widow of the late Mr. Henry Schultze, died at her residence, Banks Terrace, Wellington, on Tuesday . last, aged 87. Deceased was a very old resident of Wellington, having resided there almost continuously since her arrival in the colony in -1856, and has left a largo number of descendants. At St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, last Wednesday, Mr. Ernest F. Upham, the well-known Midland and Wellington representative cricketer, was married to Miss Sarah Smith, youngest daughter of Mr. Frank Smith, an old settler of PaiKakariki, The bride, who was given away by her father, wore her travelling dress of light sage-green cloth, with chiffon and jewelled trimmings, and cream hat and feather to match. The bridesmaids were Miss Nora Smith and Miss Constance Blackie, sister and cousin of the bride respectively, each being dressed in white spotted muslin with lace trimmings, and Leghorn hats. Mr. Harry F. IJpham supported his brother. The Rev. T. H. Sprott performed tho ceremony. The presents included a handsome silver egg-cruet from the bridegroom's fellow-employees in tho office of Messrs. Bell, Gully, and Izard. Mr. and Mrs. Upham left by the afternoon's train for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent. A pretty wedding took place at the Presbyterian Church, Kaurihohore, on November 25, between Mr. F. Cooper, Whangarei, and Miss K. McLennan, Kaurihohore. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. Y. Roby. The church, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion, was crowded with interested spectators. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming, and wore a handsome shot costume, with the customary veil and orange blossom. She was attended by her two sisters as bridesmaids, who were tastefully attired in pink. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. A. Wilkinson as best man, and Mr. A. Reid as groomsman Mrs. J. H. McKenzie played the " Wedding March." After the ceremony the friends and relations gathered at the residence of the bride's parent?, where afternoon tea was provided. Immediately after the party were photographed by Mr. Mr. McKinnon. The manner in which the bride is held in esteem is to be seen by tho large number of beautiful, useful, and costly presents which she received. The happy couple left for the train at half-past; four, en route for Lake Takapuna, where the honeymoon is to be spent, amid flowers, showers of rice, old slippora, etc., etc.
