.The second wool sale in Auckland is advertised to be held on January 19, 1898, at nine o clock, in the Wool Excnange. The prizes in connection with tho Friendly Societies' gala to be held in the Domain on January 29 are now on exhibition in the shop of McLeod Brothers, Karangahape Road. The collection is a very choice one. Entries for the band contest and sports will he received by the president and seoret'iry of the Friendly Societies' Conference until January Bth. Tickets for the art union may be obtained from the secretaries of all friendly societies. Mr. J. Thorues draws attention to the Valuable block of land, with frontages to Beach Road and the Strand, also two extensive commercial stores on part of this property, the lease of which for a considerable term will be offered by auction at his auction rooms next Tuesday.
