THE KEAST CASE.
TO THK EDITOR. Siß.-Y.our paper of the 23rd November, hag been handed to me containing a report of the trial of the man Richard H. Keast. Unfortunately I am his lawful wife, but am not the person whom he is said to have taken away from a rescue home in Brisbane in 1890. That town I have never seen, but in 1891 I met Keast in Victoria, and was married to him at Ballarat in that year. We came to Fiji iu 1892, and I have since resided here. He left me at Snva with three children to support in April of this year, but in fact I have always had to work hard as a dressmaker, etc., to maintain the family, so that his imprisonment is no loss to us. I was living with my parents at Newstead, Victoria, when I unfortunately first met Keast. I will thank you to insert this as many of my friends are not aware of the true facts. There has uevor been a blot against my character.—l am, etc., Annie Keast. Suva, Fiji, December 11,1897.
